If you maintain your website it’s likely you’ll need to upload images to your site. Many people upload images to their website without first checking the size but this can lead to slow loading pages and excessive bandwidth use for mobile users. Before you upload an image it’s best to first scale it to the size you need.
Measuring images for web:
If you don’t know what size your image needs to be, you may be able to figure it out by examining the images already on your website. If you’re using Google chrome you might like to install this handy measuring tool which can give you a measurement in pixels of any part of your website:

Resizing images
Once you know the size of the image you need you can resize image files using programs like Photoshop or Paint. You may need to use a combination of scaling and cropping to achieve the correct size. Remember not to stretch your images.
